Abstract
- Polyamide1010 (PA1010) and its composite with nanometer-sized silica (PA1010/n-SiO 2 ) coatings were deposited using a flame spray process. The thermal behaviors, mechanical and tribological properties were investigated. The dry friction and wear behaviors of PA1010 and PA1010/n-SiO 2 composite coatings were systematically investigated under dry sliding conditions against TMK rings by wear-test machine of MRH-3 at room environment. The results showed that the addition of nanometer-sized silica could increase the crystallinity of the coatings, improve the mechanical properties of coatings and reduce friction and wear of pure PA1010 effectively. The worn surfaces were examined using a scanning electron microscope (SEM). The wear mechanism of the coatings was explained in terms of plastic deformation, fatigue tearing and adhesive abrasion. In addition, the nanocomposite coating containing 1.5 wt% nanometer-sized silica displayed better properties.
