Confessional institutes: convergence, divergence and challenges of the 21st century / Institutos confessionais: convergência, divergência e desafios do século xxi

In the Western society of the 21st century, the dichotomy between faith and reason is very acceptable. Pan-modernist philosophies have created a society in a constant state of denial regarding the Christian contribution to the production of knowledge. However, history shows that the systematization of current knowledge is genuinely influenced by the Christian religion; the Christian profile itself, together with its principles of seeking the truth, were the necessary parameters that provided the conditions for the consolidation of modern science. The present research seeks to bring to light not only the religious legacy in teaching but also the challenges of harmonizing the Christian worldview and scientific research in the context of the 21st century, averse to this proposal. In this work, along with the bibliographical research, qualitative research was carried out in the city of Boa Vista, in institutions of basic and higher education that have experiences in implementing in their educational project a vision of Christian inspiration.
