Abstract

In Japan, aging of farmers has progressed. We must leave the wisdom of farmers to posterity to protect the safety of eating habits. Currently, researches on the cultivation management of utilizing a field server have been widely made. Old traditions that support the data that can be obtained from the field server are considered to be an effective technology. A system that utilizes the field server is proposed [1,2,3]. Fujitsu's akisai [1] requires power in the rice fields, and large expense is needed to introduce the system. PaddyWatch [2] and e-kakashi [3] do not require power. However, those are equipped with sensors only for the power reduction. Therefore, the system cannot transmit the rice field image. The growing management of rice is linked to the leaf color and height of rice plant and is assessed through image analysis, but it is difficult to manage only by the sensor. In addition, those systems request the access fee of networks because those systems use 3G network. Therefore we made an agricultural support system for the rice field utilizing the field servers which work with mobile battery, have a camera, and use free local networks. Because the big field servers become a hindrance to the farm work, we have created a movable field server. We installed the field server outdoors and did field tests. Also we tested the agricultural support system. In the result, we could confirm operation.
