Abstract
- Novel water-soluble cyclophanes (2a, 2b) which act as hosts having hydrophobic cavities were made by connecting two naphthylphenylmethane units and two tetramethylene bridges via four nitrogens. 1H NMR spectral studies have shown that in water these cyclophanes form inclusion complexes with aliphatic as well as aromatic guests.
