Abstract
- A new model is describing complex dissolution-ionization-diffusion-deposition (DIDD) process in metal/solution interface. Taking CO2 corrosion of steel as an example for modeling verification, helping to better understand the non-Arrhenius corrosion behavior of 20 steel, especially the role of alloying element Cr on the corrosion resistance. The calculated results have a good agreement with morphology and weight loss. Moreover, a significant contribution of this study is to find a bridge between the thermodynamics and kinetics of electrochemical corrosion, providing a promising tool to develop a deterministic method for corrosion prediction and formulate a set of principles for designing new alloys.
