Abstract
- A new dinuclear Ca(II) complex, {[Ca(bpy)(H2O)4]2(μ-1,5-NDS)}·(1,5-NDS) (1,5-NDS = 1,5-naphthalenedisulfonate bpy = 2,2′-bipyridine) has been successfully synthesized in water:ethanol (1:5) medium, and was characterized by elemental analysis, IR and thermal analysis. Structurally characterized with the aid of X-ray single-crystal diffraction analysis, which revealed that the complex crystallizes in the triclinic system with the P-1 space group, and the complex molecules exhibit a novel one-dimensional supramolecular chain structure via hydrogen bonding interactions. The antitumor activity of 1,5-naphthalenedisulfonic acid sodium ligand and the dinuclear Ca(II) complex against human hepatoma SMMC-7721 cell line and human lung adenocarcinoma A549 cell line reveals that the Ca(II) complex is more resistive to this cell line as compared to 1,5-naphthalenedisulfonic acid sodium ligand.
