Dynamic Cytomatrix-Membrane Interactions Investigated with Nanovid Microscopy

The cell membrane consisting of the phospholipid bylayer and many different glycoproteins embedded in it is suspected to show a highly dynamic yet regulated behaviour. Impressive reorganizations are known to occur in particular in relation to cell movement and differentiation. While some components may move about relatively freely, local constraints and interactions with underlying cytomatrix elements are suspected to exist while others such as adhesion molecules may become immobilized at specific sites.
