Abstract
- Twenty-seven 12-24 inch tall, container-grown Ixoracoccinea, heavily infested with hemispherical scale were selected for treatment. Test plants were growing in 2 gal pots. All stages of hemispherical scale were present. A single application of the test materials was made out-of-doors on June 17. The foliage of all plants was sprayed to run-off using compressed air sprayers. Treatments were replicated 3 times, one plant constituting a replication. Plants were allowed to dry and then were returned to a greenhouse. Mortality was determined on July 6 by counting 100 individuals per plant. Counts were made with the use of a stereo-microscope by examining each scale insect and scoring it as living if normally-colored and full-bodied or dead if it was discolored and shriveled or dried.
