Abstract
- We synthesized polyaniline derivative with liquid crystalline (LC) substituent. The polymer showed smectic liquid crystallinity in heating and cooling processes. The polymer was aligned by magnetic force of 10 Tesla under LC temperature region. Polarizing optical microscopy revealed a macroscopic alignment of the polymer. The orientational behavior of the LC polyaniline was evaluated from an aspect of optical dichroism in polarized absorption spectra.
