Location and capacity determination of PET based on operation simulation of distribution network

Abstract
- When the user power system is connected to the AC distribution network, the power system’s composition and operation characteristics, the access equipment, and their performance would influence the energy efficiency of the distribution network, which is needed to be considered in the design stage. For this reason, the power electronic transformer (PET) as access equipment is analyzed. According to the structure and operation characteristics of PET, the simulation model of PET in the ETAP is established, and the parameters of PET in power flow calculation are set. Then, the principle of PET location and capacity design and its steps are determined. Finally, the IEEE 33 bus distribution system is taken as our case study. The energy efficiency difference of distribution network between PET and traditional transformer is compared. And the capacity of PET as well as access point of PET is optimized based on maximizing energy efficient under different scenarios, the results is useful in access design for distribution network integrated by PET.
