Oscillation Theorems for a Second Order Damped Nonlinear Differential Equation

Abstract

Conditions are given on the functions p, q, $\phi $, and g which imply that all continuable solutions of \[ u'' + q( t )\phi ( {u,u'} ) + p( t )u^\alpha g( {u'} ) = 0 \] are oscillatory on the ray $[ {0,\infty } )$ when $\alpha > 0$ is the quotient of odd integers and $\alpha \ne 1$. When $q = 0$ and $g = 1$, these theorems reduce to the well-known sufficiency theorems of Atkinson and Belohorec.
