Abstract: Some alkali and alkaline earth metal salts of the amphiphilic anion [Fe(CN)4(H2O)(C12H25NH2)]2- have been synthesized by reaction of [Fe(CN)5NO]3- with C12H25NH2. Using optical microscopy, they have been shown to give a hexagonal (H1) mesophase in water.
