Abstract

At the insertion site of the petiole with the stipule regenerated plants of the strawberry cultivars 'Teodora', 'Clea' and 'Egla' were obtained. All the cultivars showed similar regeneration percentages. The genetic variation induced by tissue culture technique was detected with the RAPD molecular markers. DNA fingerprinting was carried out with several ten-mer random primers. Samples of plants were randomly chosen among the total of regenerated plants of each cultivar and compared to those of the mother plants. A cluster analysis, based on the totality of scorable RAPD bands, was performed to construct a genetic similarity dendrogram. The results showed genetic variability between mother plants and regenerated plants.
