Abstract
- Background: ACT proved to be a reliable tool in assessment of asthma control. Psychopathological factors can influence asthma control and the result of ACT. Aim: Analysis of psychopathological and personality factors on ACT outcomes. Methods: Asthma control was assessed using ACT among 104 stable asthmatics. Quality of life was assessed by Asthma Quality of Life Questionnaire (AQLQ). Patients were evaluated for psychopathologies using 28-item General Health Questionnaire (GHQ28). Personality traits were assessed with Eysenck’s Personality Inventory (EPI). Acceptance of asthma was measured by Acceptance of Illness Scale (AIS). Results: Patients with uncontrolled asthma (ACT score Conclusions: Uncontrolled asthma patients have more frequent psychopathologies estimated by GHQ28 and lower acceptance of their disease. However, they do not differ from controlled asthmatics in terms of personality traits.
