An Application of System Health Management Theory for a Simple Sun Pointed Space Vehicle

The purpose of this paper is to discuss the application of the theory of System Health Management to a simple sun pointed space vehicle attitude control system architecture and subsequently to analyze how well it defines the need for Fault Management. This paper also compares the results of this method with the results of an application of commonly used Classical Fault Management techniques. Following a short introduction, an overview of the tools utilized by both methods of determining needed Fault Management and a review of the foundational principles of both methods is given, before the example and findings are discussed.
