Abstract

An infrared spectrophotometric micromethod, specific for endrin, has been developed which quantitatively measures 1–2 μg of endrin in solutions containing endrin-dieldrin-aldrin. Endrin was determined by: a) reference to a standard curve based on the 748 cm −1 (13.37 μ) absorbance band unique to endrin, or b) use of a constant based on the ratio of the 748 cm −1 absorbance band of endrin to the 1179 cm −1 (8.48 μ) absorbance band common to all three compounds. Sensitivity and accuracy were attained with micro cells. The measurements were made with controlled slit width and instrument conditions. The base-line technique was used to measure the intensities.
