Abstract

In this chapter, you will be downloading the latest Ubuntu Server 20 bootable image to install and create a virtual machine on your VMware Workstation instance. Ubuntu is a Debian Linux–derivative distro and provides one of the best user experiences on Linux. For most Windows users, Ubuntu Desktop would be the first Linux entry point. However, for this book, we will be using Ubuntu Server 20 instead with a little twist: we will choose to install a UI to add more flexibility to our lab. At the end of this chapter, you will be able to create a Ubuntu Server virtual machine from the ground up, customize selective settings on the operating system, take a snapshot of a virtual machine, and clone a virtual machine
