Abstract

A method for assessing the effectiveness of protective actions against a nuclear accident has been developed by means of the concept of fuzzy theory. The method is applied for assessing the evacuation time in emergency planning zone(EPZ) of Uljin nuclear site. The parameters related to evacuation such as population density and transportation were represented by fuzzy membership functions. The main advantage of the proposed method is that it can provide for incorporating the opinions of experts and the site specific conditions in which protective actions are taken.
