A novel approach for providing cost-effective wireless internet access in small-sized university campuses of developing countries

Considering the fact that internet access is almost indispensable today, the challenge in providing the same is also very high. Students and staff in university campuses are no exception in this regard. However, the requirements in such places are different from the requirement of domestic or corporate users. Small-sized university campuses do not have very high funds and hence look for cost-effective solutions. In this paper we attempt to provide such a low cost yet effective solution for small-sized university campuses in developing countries like India. Instead of using large high powered antennae we use domestic-grade Wi-Fi routers/access points. Such devices are much lesser in cost compared to the high-range antenna solutions.
