Data source syndication and data access methods for reporting system architecture

This study describes our recent progress on developing ESCALATION (Easy Used and Customizable General Reporting Application). ESCALATION Report is an independent web based reporting system that aims to offer easiness and flexibility for enterprise and organization in generating report. Data owned by enterprise or organization could be physically located in many different places and different system. It also can be stored in varied platform of database management systems (DBMS). Therefore, one of the most challenging parts in developing reporting system is data syndication. On the other hand, reporting systems also face issues regarding its performance. One of the technical issues that affect report generating performance is data access method. The objective of this study is to determine the suitable data source syndication and data access method for reporting systems.
