Abstract
- In this globalized market where competition among industries increase day by day, companies strive to remain competitive by introducing better products which are easy to manufacture and assemble by reducing the number of parts, material selection, and less cost. DFMA, which is a proven method to help in designing the products at early stages of design for a selection of material, process and assembly methods, is widely used for new product development by designers across the globe. This paper reviews present knowledge and state of the art associated with design for manufacturing and assembly and explains in detail about the case studies carried out in different areas of new product development and other engineering applications.
