Standardized procedures for thoracentesis / pleural biopsy at Pleural Diseases Outpatient Clinic - HUPE / UERJ v1

Thoracentesis is a procedure in which a needle is inserted into the pleural space between the lungs and the chest wall. This procedure is done to remove excess fluid from the pleural space or to determine the cause of the pleural effusion. The aim of this protocol is to spread to the cientific community the standard procedures to perform thoracentesis and pleural biopsy at HUPE / UERJ.
