Abstract

23rd European Photovoltaic Solar Energy Conference and Exhibition, 1-5 September 2008, Valencia, Spain; 2777-2780<br />Partial shading of PV arrays can be observed in many building integrated PV plants (BIPVs). The occurrence will rise when shaded roofs will become attractive for PV applications caused by decreasing system price. Reminding that PVplants have a lifetime of 20-30 years shadowing may affect nearly all building integrated PV plants. Optimal handling of shadow is important for initial operation as well as for future operation, because shading may be a phenomena caused by vegetation and buildings in the neighborhood of any plant.
