�� partir d���une analyse des sources historiques, nous nous proposons d���interroger la strat��gie, tant politique que litt��raire, mise en place par Montaigne pour remodeler l���image de son ami sarladais ternie par son association �� un br��lot sulfureux, La Servitude volontaire. Par ce proc��d��, Montaigne conf��re �� La Bo��tie une identit�� propre, un statut et une lisibilit��, et transforme le souvenir de ses rencontres concr��tes en acte de reconnaissance.
Through an analysis of the historical sources, we aim to examine Montaigne���s political and literary strategy to re-shape the image of his Sarladais friend tarnished by his connection with an incendiary polemical tract, La Servitude volontaire. In so doing, Montaigne bestows on La Bo��tie an identity of his own, a standing and a readability, and transforms the memory of his concrete encounters into an act of recognition.
