Experimental evidence of facet position influence on DFB laser gain discrimination

Abstract: From subthreshold spectra, the gain coefficients of the distributed feedback laser modes have been deduced. Using low temperature ion beam etching, the position of one of the facets was changed and the resulting effect on the mode threshold gain difference has been investigated.
