Abstract

The aim of this chapter is to discuss the level of guarantee of religious freedom of prisoners, both in historical and legal perspective. The answer to the question of whether believers of different religions have similar access to religious services and similarly guaranteed right to practise their own religion, e.g. religiously motivated diet, has fundamental importance. The analysis of prisoners’ right to practise their own religion was conducted with regard to the constitutional principle of equality of rights of churches and other religious denominations, including the practice of their application.
