Abstract
- Three studies were performed to evaluate the potential beneficial effects of inhaling the short-acting β 2 -agonist salbutamol, the long-acting β 2 -agonist salmeterol and oral administration of the leukotriene antagonist montelukast on physical performance in nonasthmatic highly trained endurance athletes at −15°C. The results show that the three asthmatic medications do not enhance physical performance during submaximal and maximal exercise in nonasthmatic highly trained athletes exposed to sub-zero conditions.
