Abstract

High-spin states in 195 Hg have been investigated using the GAMMASPHERE Ge-detector array in its early implementation phase. The level scheme has been extended up to an excitation energy of about 10 MeV and a spin of 71 2 ħ. Three new dipole band structures have been added for which B( M1 , ΔI = 1) B( E2 , ΔI = 2) branching ratios were determined to be of the order of 2 ( μ n eb ) 2 . Possible quasiparticle excitations responsible for these structures are discussed.
