Abstract
- Purpose: We will investigate the hypothesis that an ego-depletion treatment has significant effects on the quantity and quality of online learning, as well as learning performance, as compared to a control task. Participants: 80 undergraduate students. Procedures (methods): Participants will participate in a Zoom video conference with a research assistant, be randomly assigned to an ego-depletion or control condition, take assessments, and learn online while thinking aloud before taking a posttest. In the ego-depletion condition, participants will engage in an ego depletion task before learning, and in the control condition participants will engage in a parallel non-depleting task.
