The movement of inorganic cations in paper chromatography

The paper chromategraphic behavior of tweleve metal ions has been examined using alcoholic solvents containing various concentrations of ammonium hydroxide. It was found that the movement of the ions was dependent not only on the amount of NH 4 OH presents and the alcohol used but also on the concentration of ion spotted on the paper. It is suggested that adsorption of the ions by the paper is a major factor controlling the movement of inoic componds or complexes.
