Abstract

A study was carried out during the period, June 1976–May 1978 on the amount and composition of dust deposits in Helwan Industrial Area, about 24 km south-east of Cairo, Egypt. Importance was given for the construction-cement industry as a major source responsible for polluting the atmosphere of this region. 24 dust-fall collectors were set up at different sites covering the various activities in the studied area. Monthly collected deposits were estimated for their total weights, and were chemically analysed for watersoluble and insoluble components.
