Abstract

It is significant to develop methods of patterning materials and clipping molecules on nanometer scale according to people's needs. The development of scanning probe lithography provided a simple and useful method to construct nanostructures onto substrates. In this article, bovine serum albumin (BSA) nanostructures with controllable shapes and sizes were constructed by using scanning probe lithography. The influence of tip-substrate contact time and tip-substrate distance on nanostructure was investigated. Longer contact time of tip-substrate and shorter tip-substrate distance towards substrate can deposit more BSA molecules from atomic force microscopy (AFM) tip to surface. The oriented and controlled patterns of nanostructures on suitable substrate can provide the prospect of building functional nanodevices.
