Abstract
- This study aims at identifying and analyzing the transformation of the Egyptian press during the past century. It looks at its development, business model, legal environment, and the role the press has played in social and political changes over the decades. The chapter overviews decades of press history in Egypt, and it covers models of ownership, competition, and legal regulations, as well as press freedoms and the role of the press in social and political changes in Egypt.
