Abstract

Two Russian remote sensing specialists investigate the problem of selecting the most informative spectral bands for multispectral remote sensing investigations of natural features and vegetation associations typical of arid environments in the Turgay Lowland of north-central Kazakhstan. More specifically, they investigate which among the four bands of a summertime Landsat-TM image yields the most information about topographic, hydrographic, and vegetational shrub and grass communities typical of the area.
