DATA ON LEARNING AND EVALUATION

This chapter presents the evidence of students' learning within a given block by looking at the proportion correct on the pretests and posttests for Grades 1 to 6 for students in California and Mississippi who participated in the drill-and-practice program during the 1967–68 academic years. It also presents an evaluation of the CAI program. The evaluation involved administering the Stanford Achievement Test (SAT) to experimental and control groups at the beginning and end of the academic year. The evaluation includes the performance of the California students during the 1966–67 and 1967–68 academic years and the performance of the Mississippi students during the 1967–68 academic year.
