Ultrahigh-Temperature Ceramics (UHTCs) Systems

Phase diagrams of diborides (MB2), monocarbides (MC), and mononitrides (MN) of transitive metals in IVB or VB groups, such as Ti, Zr, Hf, Nb, and Ta, most of which belong to the Ultrahigh-Temperature Ceramic (UHTC) family, are collected in this chapter. Phase diagrams of UHTCs are scarce relative to common oxides, carbides, or nitrides. High melting point and high hardness cause difficult to experiment the phase diagram. Therefore, element diagrams and calculated diagrams in open publications are also included.
