Abstract

N & NORWAY, through the development of geographic features usually considered adverse, has become an industrialized nation. Located on the Arctic Circle, geographic features are ice fields covering 4 per cent of the surface of the country; many rivers of ice creeping slowly down mountain sides; snowcovered winters, and summers of abundant rainfall, with precipitation of more than 70 inches a year in some localities along the west coast. The ice, snow, and rainfall, coupled with precipitous mountains of rock, ranging from 1,500 to 6,000 feet in height, cause numerous waterfalls with a dependable flow of water.
