Abstract

We have investigated the feasibility of using the 8–16 keV energy channel of the BATSE spectroscopy detectors to study the correlated short and long term optical and high energy behavior of Sco X‐1. We have found that in this energy range, the spectroscopy detectors are well suited to these tasks. To demonstrate its short period monotoring potential, simultaneous BATSE 8–16 keV and optical Sco X‐1 light curves are presented. Longer term activity cycles also appear to be present. BATSE spectroscopy data covering a 50 day period show distinct episodes of Sco X‐1 activity.
