Ceramic Matrix Composites-Present Status and Future Trends

This paper briefly reviews the recent developments in particulate reinforced ceramic matrix composites along with mechanisms of crack-particle interaction and their effect on toughening. Also cover in this review are the whisker- and continuous fiber-reinforced ceramic matrices and problems associated with reactivity between the matrix and reinforcing phases. Future trends in the synthesis of ceramic matrix composites will also be discussed.
