Abstract
- Given the peculiar properties of silver nanorelated structures and the current global tendency toward a patient-oriented medical practice, the scientific community and health-care professionals straightened their attention toward the experimental design, development, and assessment of novel silver-based nanosystems for biomedical applications. In particular, the attractive physicochemical and functional versatility of nano Ag resulted in employing silver-based nanostructures as promising tools for unconventional strategies in cancer therapy, either as biosensing and bioimaging platforms, drug delivery carriers or enhanced chemotherapy, and radiotherapy. Therefore, within this chapter, we review the latest results reported in novel silver-based nanotechnology-derived systems as promising strategies for modern cancer therapy.
