Abstract

Since the last edition in 2009 the transformation of information processing has accelerated at a rapid speed. The phrase “Big Data” is now more a norm, and the web-based databases that host various information pertaining to toxicology have become the central depositories of the original datasets, technical reports, and documents. Coupled with “Big Data” is the idea of data-mining, which is based on machine learning algorithms to understand the trends, make appropriate interpretations, and to make reliable predictions. Along with “Big Data,” data analytics and data visualization have also become the mainstream tools to understand the toxicological data beyond the traditional analyses and reporting. This chapter provides examples on the latest trends and serves as the resources for toxicologists to learn and to gain knowledge in the new frontier.
