Abstract
- It is estimated that surgical site infections (SSI) are one of the most common complications in colorectal surgery. As Medicare and Medicaid policies increase to regulate reimbursement based on these complications, many health care institutions have begun to institute bundled care plans in an attempt to decrease SSIs. In order to optimize patient outcomes, it is critical to identify the proper components necessary for these bundled plans. Here, we will review the factors associated with preventing surgical site infections in colorectal surgery.
