Abstract

In this study, a PI flexible hollow microneedle(HMN) array made by optimized dual-moulding processes is proposed. For the hollow microneedle array reported in the literature, most of the materials are silicon and metal, which are costly and complex, cannot be practically applied to human skin. The needle material used in this design is Polyimide (PI), which has the advantages of biocompatibility and good toughness, and is simple to prepare with low cost. The HMN array shows ability to penetrate porcine skin in the in vitro experiment. Most importantly, it possesses good drug delivery ability by adopting water flow experiment and Rhodamine B as a drug analogue. Due to the advantages of this hollow microneedle array, it has a good application prospect and research value.
