Abstract

This paper presents a stand-alone photovoltaic (PV) system, which contains a predictive PV emulator (P-PVE), a boosting stage used for Maximum Power Point Tracking (MPPT) and integrated energy storage system, using the cascaded predictive direct power control (CPPC). Generally, in such PV applications with batteries, the used DC/DC converters are separately controlled using several controllers, for that, the proposed CPPC assembles the control of the used converters in the same controller and minimizes only one cost function for all the system by giving more flexibility for the predictive system modelling. The MPPT of the PV emulator and the power management between PV power, batteries power and demanded power are directly included in the proposed control. Simulation and experimental results are carried out to well illustrate and confirm the correctness and the effectiveness of the proposed control.
