Abstract

This article investigates the performance of a collar-stay-shaped rigid wearable dual-band antenna for the purpose of wireless communications. The collar position of formal shirt has been chosen for placing the antenna. Because of its rigid structure, it can overcome the problem of frequency resonance shifting and downfall of signal strength associated with a flexible antenna due to body bending and cloth crumpling. It finds applications in 4.34 and 5.96 GHz with bandwidths 120 MHz and 84 MHz, respectively. This antenna yields a maximum gain of 4.51 and 5.37 dBi at 4.34 GHz and 5.96 GHz, respectively.
