Abstract
- A low-profile crossed-dipole antenna with a hybrid Electromagnetic Bandgap (EBG) reflector is proposed in this paper. The crossed dipoles are etched on a Rogers RO4350 substrate above a hybrid EBG reflector etched on a FR4 substrate. By using the leaky wave region, the bandwidth of the EBG reflector is expanded, without increasing its thickness. The bandwidth of our antenna reaches 37.6%, and the total thickness of our antenna is only 6.16 mm. After introducing the hybrid EBG reflector, the maximum axial gain is increased to 11.98 dH $\mathbf{i}$ , compared to the uniform EBG reflector's 7.18 dBi.
