Abstract
- We prepared Cr microspheres by using the spark erosion method. The Cr microspheres were treated under high oxygen pressures up to 40 MPa, and chromium oxide shells were induced. It is found that Cr 2 O 3 is more stable under 40 MPa of oxygen at both 623 K and 823 K. Magnetic measurement indicates the presence of a small amount of CrO 2 in the particles for an obvious coercivity and an exchange bias was observed. X-ray photoelectron spectra show further that the shell of the oxidized particles was composed of Cr 2 O 3 and trace amount of CrO 2 .
