Study of the regulatory benchmarking by quantitative methods: an application to the Italian energy industry

Within a so competitive endeavor like the one of Energy Supply Industry, only the meticulous definition of costs allows suppliers to survive. In this sense, the primary goal of the thesis work is the identification of the "efficient cost frontier" basing on a statistical elaboration of the industry dataset of Italian Energy Suppliers. Moreover, the study will focus on the analysis of the deviations from the previously found model, followed by the assessment of the behaviour of different actors.
