Abstract

International audience; Cryoprotective properties of lipids of sea vertebrates and lipids from the rainbow trout semen were studied. Cryoprotective solutions containing lipids of sea vertebrates or rainbow trout were as efficient as standard cryopreservation solutions. However, the presence of lipids allowed reducing the concentration of the toxic cryoprotector dimethyl sulfoxide in the freezing medium without the loss of the cryoprotective properties. It was also shown that prostaglandin E-2 added to the activating medium could increase the spermatozoa active motion time.
