Abstract

International audience; This article analyzes the constitution of a national subfield in children’s book publishing in Spain. It focuses on its genesis and autonomization process, as well as the rules and issues that define it, its relationship with plurilingualism and its weight at the international scale. The richness of the study of the Spanish case is partly explained by the complexity of this nation-state, characterized by its plurilingualism and a dominant position in the Spanish-language area. This article shows the interaction of symbolic and economic strategies that are built on a social construction around the value of a product.
